128 Bit SSL Encryption

128 Bit is the public key encryption size. It reflects the amount of possible key combinations needed for a hacker to access your data. 128 gives you 2 to the 128th power combinations. In short, this means that 128 bit encryption is very secure.

Check the browser you are using to see if it is 128 bit encrypted by going to the Help menu and looking at the About "Name of browser" menu item. The various browsers have different ways of communicating this information. Below is a list of commonly used browsers. The 128 bit information appears the following way:

IE - Cipher Strength: 128 bit
Netscape - RSA Public Key Cryptography, DSA, MD2, MD5, RC2-CBC, RC4, DES-CBC, DES-EDE3-CBC
Mozilla - There is no information in the browser menu but this browser is 128 bit
Firefox - There is no information in the browser menu but this browser is 128 bit
Safari - There is no information in the browser menu but this browser is 128 bit
