Windows 2000 Example In order to use Georgia Tech's LAWN (Local Area Walkup/Wireless Network) your computer must have a network adapter installed (wired or wireless), and be configured to use DHCP to obtain a network address. If your machine has been configured to work on the campus residential network, the same settings should work for the walk up ports. We start with instructions for installing a wireless network card. The following instructions are meant to be helpful in installing a wireless network adapter into your portable computer. The best source of information regarding your card and drivers for it can be obtained from the manufacturer of the card. This set of instructions should help provide a guide and is here as an example of a common configuration. Drivers for Lucent wireless network cards (identified as WaveLAN or ORiNOCO) can be obtained from the manufacturers web site. Extract the drivers from the downloaded file into a new directory (eg. c:\drivers\wavelan) This directory will contain drivers for the card as well as diagnostic software to verify it's proper function. If you are downloading the drivers on a different computer from the one where they are to be installed, each of the subdirectories created (driver, client manager, firmware) can be copied to a separate floppy disk .
Click "Close" to close the Network control
