Troubleshooting eduroam on Apple iOS Devices

This guide provides basic troubleshooting information for iOS devices such as iPhones and iPads.

Toggle Wi-Fi On/Off
Remove GT Wireless Network Profiles
Check IP Settings

Toggle Wi-Fi On/Off

Sometimes toggling Wi-Fi off, and then back on, will help your device reconnect with the network. This is a good first troubleshooting step to take to see if this will resolve your connectivity issue.

  1. Tap the Settings icon on the home screen.
  2. From the settings menu, tap on Wi-Fi to access the Wi-Fi settings.
  3. Tap the Wi-Fi toggle switch to turn Wi-Fi off, and then tap again to turn Wi-Fi back on. Wi-Fi is on when the switch is green, and off when gray.

Remove GT Wireless Network Profiles

  1. Tap the Settings icon on the home screen.
  2. From the settings menu, tap on Wi-Fi to access the Wi-Fi settings.
  3. Tap the ( i ) button next to the network you wish to forget (e.g., eduroam/GTwifi).
  4. If a wireless profile for the selected network exists, there will be an option to "Forget This Network". Tap "Forget This Network" to remove the wireless profile.
  5. When prompted, tap "Forget" to confirm removal of the wireless profile.
  6. Repeat steps 1 through 5 as needed to remove all GT network profiles.
  7. Now, the wireless profile has been removed and you are free to connect to a GT wireless network as if you were connecting for the first time. Refer to eduroam connection instructions here: eduroam iOS Configuration Guide

Check IP settings

  1. Tap the Settings icon on the home screen.
  2. From the settings menu, tap on Wi-Fi to access the Wi-Fi settings.
  3. While connected to eduroam (there will be a checkmark next to the left of eduroam when connected), tap the ( i ) button to the right of the eduroam network name.
  4. Make sure the following settings are set correctly:
    • Auto-Join: On
    • IPV4 ADDRESS Configure IP: Automatic
    • DNS Configure DNS: Automatic
    • HTTP PROXY Configure Proxy: Off
