April 2, 2010
The Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center will transition from FASTPASS to GTvisitor as their supplier of commercial wireless and wired internet access on Monday April 5th, 2010. To ensure seamless wireless mobility throughout the campus for visitors utilizing the commercial internet access service, we will continue to offer the same commercial provider network as the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center on the rest of the campus. Accordingly, GTvisitor will become the new commercial wired and wireless network service for campus visitors starting Monday April 5th, 2010, and will be available in all wireless locations on the Atlanta and Savannah campuses. GTvisitor is operated by Wandering WiFi in partnership with Georgia Tech and the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center.
While the goal is to keep the current FASTPASS service operational on campus until the end of the Spring 2010 semester, we are prepared to migrate FASTPASS users to GTvisitor for no-cost, in the event that the FASTPASS service is inoperable after the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center's transition.
If you are holding FASTPASS passes for events after April 11th, 2010, or passes not associated with a specific event but which you are holding in reserve, please visit the GTvisitor pass exchange site to arrange a no-cost exchange of those FASTPASS passes for GTvisitor passes prior to June 30th, 2010. If you know of any events which plan to use the FASTPASS commercial network for events next week (April 5th-11th), also send email to with the details, so that we can expedite the request, and obtain GTvisitor passes that you can choose to use either as your primary plan, or as a backup plan in the event of a FASTPASS service outage.
